Renovation of an existing building to create a new identity for the shopping precinct in Underwood. The renovation took the design language in a new direction, opting to modernise an aging and forgotten precinct and updating it to become a vibrant and diverse centre. The contemporary style of commercial building introduces a simplistic form with purposeful repetition of elements to create interest and a new visual identity. Additionally, the use of an new aluminium louvres ties together the exterior cladding across the expanded entry massing, providing cohesion in the highlighted elements. The new shopping precinct has the ability to house a diverse range of clientel, and adds value to the current site context with its new visual identity, as well as opportunities for small businesses to establish themselves in the local area.
